We are incredibly excited to welcome you to a new school year! As the new principal of Highlands Middle School, I look forward to partnering with our students, families, and staff to build on the great things already happening at Highlands and ensure every student feels connected, supported, and challenged to grow.

As we begin this year together, we remain focused on our shared mission: We are committed to learning every day! We can’t wait to welcome our Scotties back and make it a great year together!

Doors open at 7:53 am each morning. Classes begin each day at 8:00 am, so it is important that students are in the building and ready to learn by 8:00. Dismissal is at 2:35 pm. Before school, students must wait outside at their grade level door. After school, all students must leave campus or be in a supervised activity by 2:40 pm. Students are not permitted to loiter on school grounds. Office hours are from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm daily. Breakfast is open to students from 7:30 am - 7:50 am in the cafeteria. Students have the option of receiving a grab-and-go style breakfast at 9:29.

Tuesday, September 1st- 6th Grade ONLY Day

Wednesday, September 2nd- First Day of School- ALL Students

Tuesday, September 8th- Fall Picture Day

To help keep our classrooms focused on learning and minimize distractions, we have a no cell phone/electronic device policy.

If students bring cell phones, earbuds, tablets, video games, or other electronic devices to school, they must be turned off and stored in a backpack or locker upon entering the building.

Electronic devices may not be used during the school day, from 8:00 AM–2:35 PM. This includes:

HMS will continue to follow our BIG 3 student expectations. We want all of our Highlands school community to be SAFE, be RESPONSIBLE, and be RESPECTFUL.
